Gianantonio Abate

FINE ART

ABOUT

Gianantonio Abate was born in Como. He began to show his work in 1983 with a solo exhibition at the Diagram Gallery in Milan. On that occasion he presented a series of works titled “Pittografie” that translate on a curved wooden supports a kind of environmental energy, dynamic structures and swirling, echoing the historical lesson of Futurism. Since 1984, the work of Abate is configured in a poetry inspired by the urban world, artificial, mass-media. The artist began to use plastics, manufacturing environmental products that investigate the relationship between the two-dimensional and the three-dimensional, with a very shiny and reflective mindset, in opposition to the then prevailing fashion of neo-expressionist painting.
